From Nutella and Penaten cream to hygiene products to a discarded caravan or old refrigerators, products of industrial mass production form a basis for the sculptural works of Thomas Rentmeister. His body-related, minimalist sculptures and installations combine aesthetic and repulsive in an illogical way. So, as well as with the use of partly absurdly large amounts of material, he playfully formulates a – partly humorous – social commentary that provides visual and thematic occasion to think about the things that surround us in everyday life.

The catalog provides a good overview of works, with new works since the last major publication of 2011. The texts by Anna Mosemann and Hendrik Bündge as well as an interview with the artist open new perspectives on Rentmeister's work.
